Hi, I'm Monica

Holistic Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner

I studied nutrition and dietetics in college and got a Master’s in Human Nutrition. I can tell you that all those years of schooling did not prepare me for the health crisis I experienced in my forties. It all started with anxiety and irritability, then it went to pain and awful fatigue and low energy. I couldn’t find answers.

After several years of struggling with my health, I discovered functional nutrition and that’s when I learned how the body systems are all connected. When we eat processed foods, sugar and caffeine all day long, our cells don’t get the nutrients they need and all the body systems get affected.

It would be years before I found out that my blood sugar was elevated and my antibodies to my thyroid were also out of balance. This affected my sleep, my weight, my moods and it left me with joint pain and anxiety. I had to start from the beginning.

I have come to realize all of us are unique and we all have different needs and symptoms, but one thing is for sure: When we don’t nourish our bodies, eventually they cannot function properly and it shows on our skin, hair, nails, sleep, moods and health.

I decided that there HAD to be a better way than what I had learned in school.

I made it my life’s work to study the science about food and nutrition and learn why I was struggling so much - and I learned how to heal my metabolism so I could not only get rid of sugar cravings, but regain my energy, balance my blood sugar and feel great!

I finally felt freedom with food and my body, and I learned a way to eat and take care of myself that felt nourishing, rather than punished.​
